Katrin Tõnisson

Head of the Program Department in Estonian Children´s Literature Center

Katrin Tõnisson studied acting at the Viljandi Culture Academy. She worked as a museum educator at the Estonian Theatre for Young Audiences and has been the program director at the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre since 2012. Currently, she directs the Centre’s program department. Her debut children’s book, „Piglet’s Great Big Wish“, which is a heartfelt story about a sensitive young child, received 2nd and 3rd places in the Knee-High Book Competition. In the autumn of 2025, her second book was published — a comic titled “The Secret Chest”, which is about emotions.

Reading Habits and the Promotion of Reading in Estonia

The Estonian Children’s Literature Centre is the initiator of the nationwide reading programme “Appetite for reading”. I will provide an overview of the content of our reading programme and share the results of a survey in which we examine the reading habits of 3rd-grade students.
