LIBRA.I. Project – Promoting AI and Media Literacy Skills through the Lens of Latvian Libraries

A focused look at the ERASMUS+ project “LIBRA.I.”, which aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into media and learning literacy training in public libraries. LIBRA.I. is upskilling librarians by providing AI-related training, enabling them to guide the public in understanding digital media, disinformation, and the ethical implications of AI, as well as how to use AI in everyday life. The presentation will focus on the experience of the National Library of Latvia as a consortium partner of this international project, and its experience in guiding librarians from around Latvia to become media literacy and AI mentors for their communities, most notably seniors. Key takeaways will also be shared that can prove useful for Baltic library professionals to embark on similar projects, while taking into account the specific needs as well as advantages of our region.
