Books Speak Your Way: An Interactive Reading Experience

The Lithuanian Audiosensory Library Team

What does “one book for all” really look like? How can a single digital book adjust its font, contrast, structure, or even read itself aloud—adapting to each reader’s needs, whether they have a print disability or not? At this interactive installation by the Lithuanian Audiosensory Library (LAB), library professionals are invited to explore the most accessible and versatile digital book format available today: EPUB 3.

Many libraries are still discovering the possibilities of accessible digital books. This installation offers a chance to experience them firsthand and see how one book can serve every reader. Learn how EPUB 3 supports people with print impairments and how its built-in features—often unknown or unused—can enrich reading for a much wider audience.

The installation features multiple hands-on stations equipped with phones, tablets, and computers. Visitors can try accessible EPUB books that follow international accessibility standards and see how they support readers with print disabilities while enhancing usability for all. LAB’s inclusive publishing specialists will be on site to demonstrate key features, answer questions, and guide participants through the practicalities of reading EPUB-format publications.
