Reimagine Libraries

Based on the IFLA Trend Report 2024, the presentation discusses seven trends in the information and knowledge society and analyzes the portrait of the librarian of the future. What is the role of libraries in identifying and responding to community needs? How should the librarian evolve in order to meet the expectations of future communities? How much potential and power does the librarian have to influence community change? The presentation examines the tools, power, and responsibility that librarians have in shaping social and cultural processes within communities. Will the librarian be only a mediator, or also an active participant in community transformation?

The presentation raises the question: are we ready for a journey of innovation and experimentation to reimagine libraries and to co-create products and services for our next generation of libraries?
