Julija Gajauskienė is an experienced educator and library professional with a strong background in both formal and non-formal education. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Educational Sciences and has gained international academic experience at Stockholm University (Sweden) and the University of Klagenfurt (Austria). Since 2021, she has served as Chief Librarian at the Klaipėda County Ieva Simonaityte Public Library and, since 2022, as coordinator of the American Corner Klaipeda, leading educational and cultural programs in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania. She also works as a Consultant and Service Specialist in the library’s Customer Services Department and coordinates volunteers for European Solidarity Corps projects.

Discussion explores how the role of professional librarians is transforming in response to rapid technological, social, and educational changes. Bringing together perspectives from different institutions and countries, the discussion will examine how librarians’ skills and responsibilities are evolving in the digital age, how libraries can remain relevant amidst tools like Google and AI, and how librarians can strengthen community engagement and inclusion. Through expert insights and audience interaction, the session will highlight the challenges, opportunities, and future directions of the profession in a world where access to information and the ability to navigate it matters more than ever.
